Metal construction gives the 12 inch toy a substantial feel, while expressionless facial styling and blocky design convey the emotionally detached might of an automation. But it's smoking that still drives the toys popularity. During operation, the toy walks, its lights and plastic mohawk dome glows eerily in the night, while it puffs clean white smoke from its mouth as his eyes light. The presentation is at once terrifying and hilariously entertaining, just the reaction that Yonezawa's original designers were looking for. Sears carried this rarer Linemar branded toy in 1960 for $3.77. 1960 Original Linemar Smoking Spaceman Robot with Original Box! Robot works great - all functions work but his left eye and it is not original. He still smokes! Everything else with the exception of his left eye is all original. This robot is in super fantastic condition! Free from rust and scratches. Very hard to find with box and in this condition. The original box has some brown packing tape around it - I don't know why but I am not going to mess with it and attempt to peel it off. Otherwise box is in very nice shape. Marked "Linemar Japan".
