Description
ROCKING HORSE ELITE PRESENTS Serenity 45.5" overall height An F. H. Ayres 'Top-of-the Range' elegant, extra carved antique rocking horse on substantial swing stand base. These horses were considered the best Ayres produced and they certainly dotted all the i's and crossed all the 't's' with this style of horse. The carving was particularly well observed and taken to the max. Apart from the delicate carving on the face and neck there are small but subtle touches all over the horse. These include the provision of a wither {base of neck to back}, tendons on all four legs, inner thigh muscles to both front and rear legs and even a poverty line and stifle muscle on the quarters. As an added detail the head was not only bent to the side but was also set with a slight twist. A full set of individually carved teeth and long sculpted tongue completed a work of the highest degree from one of the factories' true craftsman. Fully restored to high quality in a subtle, soft dapple grey with light silver-grey mane and tail. The stand was also exceptionally well made with the base planks intersecting with lap joints as opposed to simply being fixed together on different planes. The post have additional turnings at the base and the side hoof rails are shaped  along the whole length of the rails. The tack is a faithful replica of the original tack and all completely detachable. All in all this make for a beautiful rocking horse of exceptional quality and collectability.
