Description
Beautiful collectors PAR picture puzzle, excellent condition, all pieces there...  There are approximately "850 pieces" according to the box and it takes 5 hours, 10 minutes.  These puzzles are for the serious collector.  Will send insured to buyer, hence the shipping costs.  26 figural pieces including one set of initials and signature sea horse.  Brief overview: Par Puzzles are the most sought after, respected wooden jigsaw puzzles in the world.  There is no mass production, every single puzzle is custom-made for its client, with days of craftsmanship in every corner, silhouette or overall finish of its mahogany backing.  Par Puzzles were the first to truly have fully-interlocking puzzles back in the early 1930's that didn't fly away from you everytime you pushed pieces together.  Key word there is "pushed" because Par took the interlocking of its masterpieces very seriously so you can literally lift the puzzle off the table and hold it in thin air.  Ever tried it?! (be careful though because it takes some practice and any collection can be fragile :).  Known and quoted many times in articles as the Rolls Royce of Jigsaw Puzzles, they still remain today as such and have never stopped commissioned productions from today's most elite families.  Par never stopped creating puzzles.  Straight through the 70's, Arthur Gallagher took his leadership directly from Ware and Henriques, carried on the business from the 60's until the 80's all while teaching and working in partnership with John Madden.  Madden having worked with both Ware and Gallagher has continued the company's highly detailed custom-made puzzles today.  You can see this in Anne William's books on puzzle history. On Nov-24-08 at 10:53:49 PST, seller added the following information:THIS PUZZLE IS ACTUALLY CALLED "HENRI MATTISE" - HARMONY IN BLUE AND HAS ABOUT 775 PIECES, WITH A TIME OF 4 HOURS/55 MINUTES...there are still 26 figural pieces with it.  The puzzle I sold previously was Mamie's Aunt...sorry for any confusion, they got in the incorrect boxes.  The box sitting ON the puzzle is the box for THIS puzzle.  If you google the artist, you will find this picture...apologies for the confusion...
