Description
Robot built in June 2008 for senior project, A+. Robot is cast from aluminum sheet metal and aluminum angle iron. It also has a Plexiglas top to protect its “organs”. All wires are soldered to lugs which are then screwed onto switches or into boards and then fastened down to the frame with zip ties creating a very clean and organized look. The robot comes with all software and is ready to use. Also, all of the building logs, journals, and flash presentations are available. This information will help you better understand how the robot actually works and will contain all the information you will need to give a well organized presentation. This information will also help you know what has been done to the robot and will give you the background to expand on what has already been done. The robot houses a fully functional computer, running a full installation of Windows XP Professional. Because the bot contains this ubiquitous platform, it is very easy to build greatly upon the robot’s functionality. The hardware on the robot also fully supports linux. You can write your own program to make the robot fully autonomous or use the webcam feed and a joystick to navigate through obstacles without having to physically see the robot itself. This robot is obviously a good purchase for any student or hobbyist who enjoys robotics, but it is also quite marketable for any business as well. Imagine a shooter who comes into the building where you work but you are not sure where his current location is. Instead of risking human lives you could send this robot out to search the halls while you direct it from the safety of a protected room. No matter what your reason is, this robot has the ability to fulfill all of your needs.   Specs ·       Robot is 24in long, 18in wide (about 22.5in if rear wheels are included), and 11in high (14.5in to top of webcam) ·       Windows XP Professional SP2 ·       Jetway Mini ITX with VIA CN700 series chipset ·       Embedded VIA CN700 NANO BGA processor (1.5GHz) ·       G.Skill DDR2-533MHz 1Gb ram stick ·       RoboteQ AX1500 motor controller (used in programming and in Roborun program to control the motors) ·       2.5 in. 60Gb 5400rpm Hitachi SATA notebook hard drive ·       18 amp hour 12V battery to run motors and 7 amp hour 12V batter to run motherboard (batteries last about 3 ½ hours and can be quickly recharged with a standard 12 battery charger) ·       iTuner PicoPSU-90, 90watt, 12V DC to DC power supply ·       2 very high quality duel shafted NPC- 2212 Robotic DC motors ·       2 NPC 8in. solid rubber robotic wheels ·       Caster wheel mounted in front ·       Completely aluminum frame mounted with Plexiglas top ·       Custom aluminum battery mounts for each battery ·       10 gauge red wire soldered to lugs and fastened with screws (connecting battery to switches) ·       14 gauge wire soldered to lugs and fastened with screws (for more intricate wiring) ·       1 RS232 Serial Port cable (used for communication between motherboard and RoboteQ controller) ·       Extra RoboteQ Serial Port cable for controlling board with analog inputs ·       1 duel pull duel throw switch for main power ·       1 duel pull single throw switch to power on motherboard (switch must be flipped on and off quickly because a motherboard power button is a temporary switch) ·       2 blue LEDs for power indicators ·       1 red LED for hard drive activity indicator ·       Netgear WPN111 RangeMax Wireless USB 2.0 Adapter (used to create a wireless link between the robots motherboard and the controlling computer) ·       Microsoft LifeCam webcam (robot’s eye) Please don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions: jacobdein@verizon.net kha1768@rit.edu
