The Last Supper is is a magnificent large puzzle cut in my Artistic Cut- only my 15th to date. I don't do many of them because of the extra time involved. A rare opportunity for one of my special cuts, and this one also has extensive CLC all throughout the puzzle! There is an average of 2.6 pieces per square inch. Puzzle has been handcut from 1/4" 5-ply Birch, a very strong wood that will last for generations to come! See enlarged side view below. I cut this puzzle by hand, carefully guiding the wood into the thin blade of a scroll saw, cutting off one piece at a time, using blades with a thickness of just 0.008! Approximate size is 15 1/4" X 19 1/2" There are 18 figurals as shown above including my "key" signature piece (signed, numbered, and dated on the back). One is "complex" - the 3 piece figural of Jesus (upper left, above). Five are "enhanced" - note the interior cuts. In fact the 10 commandments figurals took almost an hour just to enhance those! Interior cuts often require drilling a tiny hole through the piece, inserting the blade, and removing it & repeating for each interior cut - and since there were 27 interior cuts in the 10 commandments, it took quite a while! Keep in mind you are seeing the reverse image above so the roman numerals are the mirror image. Other figurals include: praying angel, bible, chalice, cherub playing flute, cherub playing horn, church, cross, crown of thorns, dove, fire, grape leaf, crown, praying hands, and star. As mentioned above, this puzzle features extensive Color-Line Cutting throughout the entire puzzle! It is connected to the rest of the puzzle via occasional knobs, etc. to keep it as interlocking as possible. Puzzle was cut in Artistic Cut. Pieces connect via a variety of odd shapes, including spirals, knobs, hooks, hearts, arms, and other odd appendages.. Puzzle is highly interlocking overall, but not every piece is fully interlocking. Can be turned over with a few pieces falling out. As always, I tried not to cut through most of the faces, as to preserve their fine details and make for a more beautiful finished puzzle and this can be seen in the photo below.. The back of the puzzle has occasional very tiny areas where the wood splintered off as it was being sanded. (see circled areas below). Not visible from the front. You can also note the color-line cutting from the backside below. The checkered sections of the floor should be very interesting to work! Puzzle will come disassembled inside a beautiful wood box with sliding lid similar to the one shown below. Made from solid pine (sides) and 3-ply Birch (lid and bottom), stained and varnished. My label will be affixed to the outside of the box with the puzzle title, number, and piece count Note: This puzzle contains small pieces which may present a choking hazard to children.
